Y’all, it’s been a minute and I am so sorry!
Did anyone else feel like it was a weird January? It felt like it dragged on and on. Almost like it was an extension of the holiday season but all while being in a limbo period. I’ve been calling it a trial month.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the holiday season (almost a little too much). But this year, I felt like I fell into a some seasonal depression. With it being so dark and gloomy, the rain, getting home at 7:30pm but feeling like 10:30pm, and even leaving work and it is already pitch black outside!
However, now that February is here, I am feeling much better! With the sun being out just a little longer at night, and a couple days of nice weather, I am back! Except, hello Bay Area, what is up with the cold and the rain (and even a little snow!).
I am finally ready to make some effort at my New Year’s resolutions. I usually don’t make any because I am not that great at keeping them. These below, I think, are pretty attainable and ones I think I can stick too (though they will not all be easy).
First, I want to read at least one book a month this year for a total of 12 books. This may sound easy but I already know that it will take some effort. So far, I have finished “Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis…amazing! Next up I think is “A Dog’s Purpose” by W. Bruce Cameron. My family has a year and a half year old puppy (see below) that I am obsessed with so it seems fitting. At some point, maybe starting in April or May, I want to start re-reading all of the Harry Potter books (I am the generation that grew up with those but am old enough to understand it more now).
Second, is to get into the best physical shape that I have been in. This is goal is mainly focused for my wedding (in 6 months!!) but also for my mental, physical, and emotional health. I want to feel healthy and strong! My anxiety has been at an all time high the last year and I want to lower that as much as possible while looking the best I can for my wedding! This will mainly consist of daily running and strength work outs with some hiking, kayaking, and cycling thrown in on occasion.
Lastly, is to focus as much energy as I can on this blog and The Nourishing Tummy Instagram. I want to create lots of good content for you all that you can make at home but also allow you in to my life! The hardest thing that I am overcoming is the feeling of wanting to just sit on the couch and watch TV after a long day at work. Now sometimes it is needed but not every night.
I hope you will stick with me and continue with me on this journey! I promise, it will be worth it!
What are some of your New Year’s resolutions and how are you doing with them?
Let me know below!
Have a great day everyone!
